Five Guys Burgers And Fries
Five Guys is a burger chain originating in the USA in 1986. In recent months, restaurants have been popping up north of the border. There are locations all over the GTA. The one I went to was in Ajax, on my way to a relaxing weekend at the cottage. I’ve heard a lot of hype about this place, so it was good to find out if it lives up.
A regular burger is made up of 7.2 ounces. Other items include a Cheeseburger, Bacon Burger, and a Bacon Cheeseburger. Other menu items include Hot Dogs, Fries, Grilled Cheese and veggie sandwiches. I had the Regular Burger with Fries, and a fountain soda. The total came to $15.44. A little heavy, but competitive with The Burger’s Priest and Holy Chuck’s. The restaurant has an old school diner feel with plenty of seating available, and was also extremely clean and well kept.
Standard toppings are available. I had mine with everything, which included sauteed Mushrooms and Caramelized Onions. Very nice touch. When I got the burger, I was very impressed with the portion. Very good size, and they really load up on the fries as well. The staff at this particular location were extremely friendly and answered all my questions with a smile.
Conclusion: Ok, this burger was huge! The texture of the beef was great. Very meaty and was not dry or was overly greasy. Big, juicy, and very sloppy. Just the way a burger should be! If you’re the type of person who likes their toppings to stay in your burger, this is not the place for you. Like I said, it got messy, but I like that in a burger. The only “complaint” I have, is that they really overload on the fries. Not really a bad thing. I couldn’t even finish my meal, I got so stuffed! Like I said earlier, price wise, on par with competitors, but you won’t leave still hungry like the other guys. I highly recommend this place.
