BQM BURGER SHOPPE
210 OSSINGTON AVE
Well, it has been awhile, but here I am with another burger review! The next stop on my venture was BQM Burger Shoppe, located at 210 Ossington Ave. Lower Ossington has undergone quite a facelift in recent years. Many new bars and restaurants are opening up in the area.
Some friends came to visit from out of town, so we decided to check this place out, and I thought it would make a perfect addition to my blog.
This is not what I would call a take-out joint. This is a sit down restaurant. There is a good selection of beers, all fairly reasonably priced. I went with the blanche de chambly. There are many different types of burgers here, including signature burgers such as, The Riverside, which includes Panko crusted onion ring, BBQ sauce, Mozzarella, Garlic aioli, and bacon. The Hawaiian, which includes, pineapple, chipottle aioli, Jalapeno, and bacon.
For the purposes of the blog, I had “The Natural” burger, which comes with Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Pickles, and Garlic Aioli. The burgers are 5Oz here.
What’s great about the menu is the option to select your cut of meat – chuck, brisket, or sirloin… but you have to pay the price for it. I opted for Chuck.
The restaurant was not all that busy when we went, but the patio was fairly packed. Bench seating in and out, and ample room as well. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. It didn’t take long for our order to arrive. Maybe 10 minutes or so. It was warm, the meat tasted fresh, had a grilled texture, and was a fairly decent size. The burgers come with fries.
My entire meal came to $18.20. I feel for a meal with a pint of beer, this is a very reasonable price. A+ for value.
Conclusion: Even though I enjoyed my burger, and the texture and consistency of the meat was great, there was no “WOW” factor here for me. Nothing that made me say “this is amazing.” Pretty standard if you ask me. I will go back and try one of their signature burgers, but so far I’m not impressed, nor disappointed. Check out their website, go try it for yourself and tell me what you think.
